Summer Sessions on the Tide

This summer, Greenwich Peninsula launches Summer Sessions; a free celebration of community spirit, culture and the great outdoors. Launching in June, through to September, Summer Sessions offers Londoners a summer-long opportunity to come back together and reignite their imaginations with family and friends. The Tide will become a destination for locals and visitors to enjoy a packed line-up of live music, film, sport, workshops and more, all set against a new festival quarter designed by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori, titled Promise me memories and I will let you in.

Kicking off with live jazz from the acclaimed Tomorrow’s Warriors, music will continue throughout the summer, featuring residencies from community radio stations Reprezent FM and Foundation FM as well as not to be missed live DJ sets from Charlie Dark and Just Vibez amongst others. For the film buffs, cult classics and the best in independent film will bring the Saturday magic, as well as highlights from Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics, all to be enjoyed on the open-air big screen right by the river Thames.

For those looking for something more hands-on, craft and wellbeing workshops, games, talks, and design tours will also be taking place as well as special guest performances brought by the likes of Greenwich and Docklands International Festival. To accompany the festivities, visitors can browse FLOW Farmer’s Market, offering eco-friendly produce from the local area, conceptualised by cultural connoisseurs Bompas & Parr and inspired by the Peninsula’s riverside setting.

Kaia Charles, Cultural Projects Manager at Greenwich Peninsula says ‘Summer Sessions is our way of bringing some much-needed entertainment, that is open and accessible for all to enjoy. We hope people will enjoy the eclectic line-up of summer performances and will spend time exploring the playful, creative space Yinka Ilori has created, designed to create unforgettable memories for all those who experience it.’
