Intimate Spaces
Private view
How are the notions of neighborhood, community, home and ownership represented in an increasingly dense and populated city?
Inspired by George Plemper’s Riverside School series portraying communities in Thamesmead from 1976/79; we explore the homes and communities that surround NOW Gallery in Greenwich – taking a snapshot of modern London in 2016. We capture vistas into series of intimate spaces chosen to represent this evolving urban microcosm.
Over a period of 3 months Cian Oba- Smith, Nina Manandhar, Carlos Jimenez and Ingrid Rasmussen will document four districts that co-exist but are equally disparate – Woolwich Arsenal, Greenwich Peninsula, Eltham and Thamesmead- building up a composite image of the area.
