Main Gallery

onedotzero will create a moving light based response to Alex Chinneck’s ‘Straight jacket star jumps’ work in collaboration with DCLX lighting suppliers. The work has a huge presence in the NOW Gallery space that is physically impressive in its materiality and imbued with meanings of power, energy and an industrial-ness relating to the former landscape around the Greenwich Peninsular. The aim is to emphasise the beauty and the sculpture’s geometric construction to complement its form and Chinneck’s ideas rather than overwhelm or over decorate. It’s very much an exercise in form, structure and abstract graphic shapes that can be brought further creating a new drama in the setting and party. Harnessing the energy on display and translating it into a play of shadows and light – animating both the space and the sculpture with an array of sensitive lighting, reinforcing and championing this wonderful and playful work.

Smile_TV

David Hedberg: Smile TV

Presented in the lounge of the Tom Dixon Penthouse, Smile TV is an interactive installation considering the viewer-content relationship. Bad reception used to be associated with the poor technical performance of an antenna. Now, with content widely accessible, the question is no longer if we can receive but if we are receptive. In the current economy of ‘liking’ things, we have very much become antennas ourselves.

David Hedberg is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and has set up a practice exploring our engagement with information and objects.

Universal Everything: Walking City

One of the highlights of the onedotzero curated screening programme presented in NOW Cinema, Walking City is a slowly evolving video sculpture. Referencing the utopian visions of 1960’s architecture practice Archigram, the language of materials and patterns seen in radical architecture transform as the nomadic city walks endlessly, adapting to the environments she encounters.

Sheffield-based Universal Everything play with technology to invent new forms of design and moving image.

Christian Tiger School

Christian Tiger School are one of the hottest tipped producers coming out of South Africa’s electronic music scene.
Signing to legendary New York Label Tommy Boy Entertainment with their release Chrome Tapes in June 2015, they received favourable reviews from the likes of Xlr8r, SPIN and Thump.
Their sonics range from Laid back Electronica, Dance, and Hip Hop and their live show is definitely one of their most popular assets with tables sprawled with guitars, synths, laptops and controllers.

November 2015 sees them embark on a European tour performing a live Chrome Tapes AV show.

wobbler

Robin Baumgarten: Line Wobbler

A simple but highly addictive one-dimensional dungeon crawler game in which the player navigates obstacles and fights enemies along an ultrabright LED strip display. The award-winning lo-fi indie game is controlled using a unique Wobble controller made out of a door-stopper spring. Bend the Wobble controller left and right to move along the strip and attack enemies by wobbling. The sound effects are basic modulations of sine-waves, whose frequency is directly controlled by the acceleration of the controller, enhancing the wobble effect. The entire game runs on an arduino, including sound, particle effects and 60+fps.

Robin Baumgarten is a London-based independent game developer.

Vanity-Mirror

Cinimod Studio: Vanity Mirror

An exquisite interactive mirror that intensely reflects the viewer’s image 180 times via cameras embedded in the screen.  As the viewer looks around they are always looking directly at themselves, dominating the artwork through the reproduction of their image across the digital surface.

With the rise of social media, Vanity Mirror explores the multiplicity of the image in contemporary society and by extension the notion of celebrity as self.  Snared by the glowing screen and a natural impulse to explore their own reflection, the viewer fulfils the forced vanity of the artworks title.

Designed by interactive artist Dominic Harris, the Founder and Creative Director of Cinimod Studio.
